Is AstraZeneca the Best Employer in Poland in 2025?

Recent data suggest AstraZeneca Poland ranks highly among students and job seekers, but is it the “best” employer? The available evidence points to a consistently strong employer brand, especially within science-driven fields.

In Universum’s student surveys, AstraZeneca consistently ranks high among pharmaceutical companies in Poland. In the 2023 Universum survey, the company was placed #5 among Natural Science students, indicating that many future science graduates consider AstraZeneca as a top employer choice.

In practice, AstraZeneca Poland has also earned industry recognition (e.g. Top Employer certificates) and is frequently mentioned in “best employers in Poland” lists for the pharmaceutical sector.

But does that make AstraZeneca the Best Employer in Poland in 2025?

How AstraZeneca Performed in Employer Rankings

AstraZeneca’s reputation among Poland’s student talent is backed by hard numbers. Universum’s 2024 survey, which gathered responses from 8,052 university students across the country, positioned AstraZeneca near the top of the most attractive employer lists.

In the Natural Sciences category, AstraZeneca was placed #3, a sharp confirmation that science-focused students see the company as one of the country’s most appealing career destinations. Among Health/Medicine students, AstraZeneca ranked #10, a solid indication of its competitiveness in a field typically dominated by multinational pharma companies and major hospitals.

Universum’s 2024 data reinforces a consistent trend: across scientific disciplines, AstraZeneca is one of Poland’s most desirable employers for early-career talent seeking strong development, international exposure, and brand credibility. The outcome is unsurprising given the company’s sustained climb in employer rankings, a pattern that successive survey results have consistently confirmed.

AstraZeneca Poland Glassdoor Reviews: Pros and Cons

Employee reviews paint a mixed picture. On Glassdoor, AstraZeneca’s Poland operation scores 4.4/5 (141 reviews) with 83% of reviewers recommending it. That 4.4 rating is well above the 3.7 industry average for pharmaceutical/biotech companies. Staff praise the generous benefits and culture. In category ratings, for example, culture & values (4.3) and diversity (4.5) score very high. Many note work–life balance and flexibility as positives.

At the same time, the same data reveal weaknesses. Senior management is rated only 3.5 and career opportunities 3.7, the lowest marks among all categories.

One former Warsaw business analyst wrote that AstraZeneca“is a mess… one big chaotic circus” with unrealistic workloads and rampant burnout. That reviewer even cited favouritism and alleged “discrimination against people who do not speak Polish.” Other comments praise high salaries and bonuses, but lament the lack of clear career paths or timely promotions.

In short, AstraZeneca Poland delivers on many perks (salary, hybrid work, strong teams) but suffers from organizational issues, a steep workload, erratic management support, and uneven pay for junior roles.

Among peers, AstraZeneca’s Glassdoor rating (4.4) tops Pfizer’s local score. For example, Pfizer’s Warsaw office shows only a 3.7 rating (ten reviews). Roche’s local reviews (unlisted here) are around 4.2. In Poland’s pharma sector, AstraZeneca is competitive or leading in public ratings. But even so, other companies also offer strong environments.

Long-time observers note that Roche and Sanofi often rank alongside or above AstraZeneca on employer surveys. Compared to its peers, AstraZeneca’s main edge is its benefits and reputation among young talent, but it is a bit behind on leadership stability.

Verdict: Is AstraZeneca the #1 Place to Work in Poland in 2025?

AstraZeneca is clearly among the top pharmaceutical employers in Poland, but calling it the singular “best employer” would be an overstatement. Student and graduate polls consistently put AstraZeneca in the top tier of pharma companies, and employees rate it well above the industry norm, as shown through Glassdoor reviews.

The firm’s strong pay, perks, and brand make it a magnet for talent in Poland and other countries. Yet internal critics point to serious shortfalls (including chaotic processes, high burnout and opaque advancement).

In a straight, evidence-based view, AstraZeneca is a great place to work in many ways, but it also has notable downsides. AstraZeneca is definitely among the best in Poland’s life sciences sector, but it is far from perfect, and it does not outshine all other pharma giants in every dimension.

The evidence is clear: AstraZeneca Poland excels in benefits and reputation, but it still has room to grow in management and culture before it truly earns the “best employer” crown.
